Aim
Students learn about animal welfare in captive animals. They will engage in activities for environmental enrichment, feeding enrichment, and cognitive enrichment. They will also learn basics of behavioral observation and comparative cognitive science which are needed in practicing and evaluating those enrichment activities.

・Demo experiment: each student taking turns as subject and experimenter
・Observation of eye-tracking experiment with chimpanzees

Touch panel task
・Observation of touch panel task with bonobos and chimpanzees
・Set up of touch panel equipment
・Operation of touch panels

Enrichment activities in the enclosure
・Placement of banboo trees in a chimpanzee enclosure
・Cleaning of a stream in a chimpanzee enclosure
・Planting banana trees
